UTILITY SUPPLY SYSTEMS

Airgases Projects provides to its customers the custom designed utility systems for compressed air, cooling water and fuel (LPG/LNG/ Acetylene) supply. The focus is on meeting international safety standards, energy efficiency, high level of automation and integration with main process plant.

Airgases Projects specializes in building energy efficient and reliable Compressed Air Systems of latest design, fully automated and built according to customer's requirement such as providing Air dryers for supply of Dry Air, Pre- cooling systems, Buffer vessels to meet fluctuating demand and any other such features.. The Compression of air creates heat and condenses water and other contaminates which must be efficiently removed for use in an industrial compressed air system. Clean, dry air allows pneumatic instruments, valves, and controls to operate reliably, keeps pneumatic equipment running at peak efficiency and extends the service life of air tools, motors, and cylinders. Dry air also in many industries helps ensure product and process quality. Compressed air piping system delivers quality air exactly where you need it, at the right pressure, with least moisture and at the lowest possible cost. Incorporation of special design features provide flexibility in system design and ease of installation. The important components of compressed air station are typically specified as described below

Suction Filter - Prevents dust from entering compressor which could cause damage by sticking valves, scoured cylinders, excessive wear etc. Efficient operation with minimum pressure drop is basis of design of suction filter.

Intercoolers - These reduce the temperature of air before it enters the next stage to reduce the work of compression and increase efficiency as that leads to isothermal compression. These should be designed with low pressure drop and close approach temperature but at an optimum cost. For water-cooled design ease of maintenance is another factor to consider.

After cooler - - Objective is to remove moisture from air by reducing temperature normally in a water-cooled heat exchanger. Innovative solutions like packed column type direct contact air coolers are proposed. Low moisture in air immensely helps in increased life of compressed air pipe lines as well as equipment using compressed air.

Air dryer – For instrument air requirements remaining traces of moisture has to be removed using air dryers, as air for instrument and pneumatic equipment has to be relatively free of any moisture. The moisture is removed by using adsorbents like silica gel /activated carbon, or refrigerant dryers, or heat of compression dryers.

Moisture drain traps - These are used for removal of moisture from the compressed air. Various types of traps used are manual drain cocks, timer based drain traps and automatic drain valves etc.

Air receivers- These are provided as storage and smoothening pulsating air output - reducing pressure variations from the compressor.

Compressors - Two types of compressors are used. Positive-displacement (reciprocating or screw )for relatively small flow rates and centrifugal for larger flow rates. The focus is always on thermodynamic efficiency as well as on ability to operate under turndown at similar efficiency as on duty point. Ease of maintenance as well as availability of after sales support is equally important criteria. The operating envelope is selected based on realistic expected operation range.

The other system like fuel handling facilities have large focus on safety right from design until completion of execution of project.
